Show us your Life: Master Bedroom

I am joining Kelly's Korner: Show us your life. I have really enjoyed looking at everyone's bedrooms and have got lots of ideas. We moved into our house about 6 months ago and there is still alot I want to do. This house was pretty much a blank canvas, all we have had time to paint is the master bedroom. But I have big plans for my husband, HA!

This is the view when you walk into our bedroom from the hall. Our house is like an old farm house, it has 9 ft ceilings and wood floors through out. The rug at the end of the bed is only there because our 6 yr old Shi Tzu (Sam) couldn't get traction on the wood floors to jump on the bed. I absolutly love the brown paint ( I don't remeber the color) color that we chose and let me tell you I am horrible when it comes to picking paint. It takes me forever to make up my mind and this color was choosen within 10 min with the husbands help. I was nervous when he started painting, but now I love love love it.

This is the view across the room looking back toward the door. I like my duvet, it's nothing fancy and I would love to had some color. But I haven't found anything that is just jumping out at me. I love anitques and I am looking for some new pieces to add to our bedroom. That's why we don't have a headboard, haven't found anything. I thought about trying to make something, any suggestions would be helpful.

This is the view from the other corner of the room. You see the sign above the door, a friend of ours painted that for us it say's " To the world you are but one person, but to one person you are the world". Our TV looks really small in this picture, but it's a 37 in. I know alot of people don't like a TV in the bedroom, but this is the only time I get to be quite and just relax. Of course you someone else who loves our bedroom, Sam. He loves to lay on our bed (he sleeps here everynight). I hope you have enjoyed, I still have a lot to do.

Alyssa Homecoming 2010

This was Alyssa's corsage, Thank You Nunnie and Paw.
We curled her hair and I bought crystal bobby pens. She wore make-up for the first time.

Her dress we got at JcPenney and shoes from Payless Shoe Source for all we paid $45.oo, not bad for her first dance.

She looks very pretty and all grown up. I can't believe in just 2 months she will be 13, it seems like it was just yesterday that she was born. Momma and Daddy love you very much and we hope you grow up to worship the Lord with all your heart and serve him.

7th grade Science project

Today we had a work day. This morning we got up and pressure washed the house and boy did it need it. Next we did the side walk and after all that we then started Alyssa's science project. We had to make an animal cell, now they want you to use things you have around the house. Who has things that you can make a cell out of around the house. These projects always end up costing lots of money.

Saturday we got up and the girls and I headed to town. First stop was the mall, we had to get a homecoming dress. That will be a post all of it's own. After we did all the mall things, we headed to Hobby Lobby. This ended up costing me $40.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub

I found this cute idea over at Under the table and dreaming. Can't wait to try this out, I think it will make great little Christmas gifts.
You want to begin by mixing 2 Cups of Brown Sugar and 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar together until there are no lumps. Add in 1 Cup of Sunflower Oil and 1 Tablespoon of Pure Vanilla Extract. {I like to use Sunflower Oil for this body scrub because it does not carry the strong scent that Olive Oil does}
Mix together well and scoop into a sealable glass container.

Old McDonald had a farm..And on that farm he had a COW!!!

We have COWS!!! They are Dexter cows and they all have horns. They are a minature cow with bulls/steers weighing about 1000 lbs and cows/heifers weighing 700 lbs and a height of about 42 - 46 inches. This type of cow is meant for the small farm or mini farms. We have had them for about 3 months now and they are starting to get used to us. We of course have named them, we have T-Bone, Lucky Day and Lucy Mae. I know I know you are probably wondering why in the world we would name cows. Well we don't plan on having a lot of them and it started out that we were going to raise T-Bone to eat. That is why we named him T-Bone. We really didn't think this would be hard because we love steaks. When we got him he was ugly, he still had his winter coat and had warts on his face. He was given a shot for the warts and now he has grown into a very handsome steer.

This is Lucy, she has always been our favorite. She is a little spit fire. When you bring out the food bucket she will run from back of the field to the front were we feed them. She also is the youngest.

They will eat out of our hands now. We love this. I didn't think that I would care much for this, but I love to call them up to feed.

We are enjoying the country life and we are loving the cows. We are getting another little baby in late fall and are very excited. They are so funny with such different personalities.

T-Bone is so funny one minute he is grooming the girls and the next he will push them away. And when he comes up to the feed trough he will push his way through. I have already had to give them their first vaccine and let me tell you I was scared. These things have a lot of power and Chris just kept saying "be careful don't break your arm". Okay that is not what you say to someone who has never done something like this before. Well everything went fine no broke bones and cows came through okay too.

First day of school

Today was the girls first day of school. They are starting a new school this year since we moved South Lincoln Elementary. They are a little nervous, but excited at the same time. It's a really small school 600 students from K-8 grade. I can't believe that Alyssa is starting 7th grade, next thing you know she will be starting high school. Where has the time gone.

We had to go school supply shopping the other night. Let me just say I hate this, they always jam all the school supplies into 3 isles and 100 people trying to get to the last pack of paper. I say every year that I am going to stock up before school, so I don't have to fight these crowds. And why do the teachers always put something on the list that you have to go on a scavenger hunt to find. Whatever happened to crayons, pencils and paper. No, now they won't you to have the long twistable color pencils, and wouldn't you know that they weren't with all the other school supplies. We had to hunt all over the store for these and book covers. Found color pencils, but no book covers. So now the hunt is on for book covers.

I hope they make lots of friends and have a great time at their new school. Good luck girls and I will be thinking about you all day.

Happy Birthday Maxcey!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is my wonderful sister's birthday. She is the best little sister a girl could ever ask for. There is 9 yrs between us, so when we were younger I did not think she was the best. However the older we get the closer we are becoming.

She has become a wife and mother in the last 3 yrs and that brings even more for us to have in common.

She is a great Aunt to my 2 girls and they love getting to spend time with her every summer. I just wish we lived closer so we could do all those fun sister things together. I would love to call her up and go shopping, go to the "speciality stores" (mom's favorite) or just go to each others house for supper and a movie.

I love you Max and love how close we have become.

One day we are going to not just talk about a girls weekend getaway, we are going to go.

Hope you have a great birthday!
Love your big sister.

Favorite Beauty Products

This is my favorite shampoo's. I use it twice a week and it keeps my highlights from getting brassy. This is an old product, I can remember my grandmother using it.
I found this root boost and it works great. I have used all kinds of hair products and I defintely believe in the salon products. They may cost more, but I think it is worth it.

I have sold MaryKay for about 2 years and I love it. I use the whole line, from face wash to makeup to lipstick. I believe in washing my face twice a day. I wish I had always done this, so I try to teach my girls that start when you are early taking care of your face.

I love OPI nail polish. I have long nails (not artificial) and I always like to have some kind of polish on from clear to a color. I think this last longer than any other brand. I do buy the cheaper nail polish @ Walmart, but this is my favorite. Of course it has to be pink.

Since I found this hairspray, I can't use anything but. This stuff keeps my hair all day, and trust me I like my hair to be just so. My husband laughs because I don't like the car windows down cause it blows my hair. I tell people all the time I don't have hat hair, boat hair, motorcycle hair or covertible hair. Ha!

Just wanted to share some of my favorite beauty products. Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. The girls just have one more week before school starts back. Summer is coming to an end. So sad, I love the summer.

Happy Birthday Rilee!!!!!

Rilee got a 4 wheeler for her birthday, it was also an early birthday for Alyssa too. They are loving it. It's pink camo, for Rilee I wouldn't think of anything else. Ha! She got it last Tuesday and that night she was a little scared, but now that she has ridden 4-5 times she throws it to it. They ask every night if they can go and ride.

She wanted a puppy, we are hoping this will take her mind off the puppy.

Do they look a little excited?

We have moved!!!

To a beautiful house with 6 1/2 acres. We are loving the country life.

There are fields on both sides and woods in the back, we only have neighbors across the street.
Chris can't wait to get fence up so he can get some cows. It just seems so relaxing up here, we are only 10 mins from our old house, but feels like its worlds away. We are hoping to be moved in the weekend after Easter.
